Mark is a product of Carshalton Athletic's youth system, breaking his way into the senior squad for the 2005/06 season. After a number of impressive games in the reserves, Marshall started the following season in the first team for the Robins.
Prior to joining The Blues, the speedy winger had trials at Premiership outfit Reading and League One side Yeovil Town, also attracting interest from a host of other League clubs.
Steve Coppell, famously unearthing Ian Wright from non-league football, closely monitored Marshall and saw him play whilst at Colston Avenue. However the Royals boss decided against signing him.
He made a second half appearance whilst on trial for The Blues against Billericay Town in a pre-season friendly on 31st July 2007. It was announced that the 20-year-old put pen to paper at The New Rec on a one-year deal the following day.
On 31st December 2007, Mark Marshall went on loan to Blue Square South side Eastleigh for a month. A month later the move was made permanent.
