Joined the club on a free transfer from Weymouth on 16th January 2007, making his debut the following week in the 1-0 defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge. He started his career in England with Yeovil where he made 55 appearances, scoring 4 goals between 2002-2004. In the summer of 2004 he signed for Cambridge United on a free transfer, and played 19 games during the season. El-Kholti signed for Chester City for the 2005/06 season and made 27 appearances. He then joined Weymouth and went on to play 25 games for the club, before his move to Grays.
Abdou's contract was terminated by mutual consent on 21st August 2007, failing to make an appearance in the opening three games of the 2007/08 season.
He has since linked up with his ex-Weymouth boss, Garry Hill at Rushden & Diamonds.
