Joined the club from Tamworth for £18,000 on 28th February 2007 in a deal that sees him at Grays until the summer of 2009. Kemp made his debut for Grays in the 2-2 draw with Weymouth. He started his career at Derby County in 2004 before signing a one year deal at Lincoln City at the end of his scholarship in 2006. He was sent out on loan (which later turned into a full signing) to Tamworth and made 21 league and 2 FA Cup appearances for the club - including the 4-2 defeat of Grays. In December 2006 he was handed a trial by Steve Bruce, manager of Birmingham City, and has also been watched by Portsmouth, Derby and Sheffield United. Kemp was released in May 2007
