Blues slip up Grays Athletic stumbled at the Oakside Stadium on Saturday.
Ford had the drive to win and motored away with three goals and three points.
After early pressure from the visitors, Ford’s Glenn Poole delivered a low cross which fell to Sammy Cooper who hit the spot from ten yards.
Blues keeper Mel Capleton was called upon to save Grays’ bacon on several occasion – including one brilliant save from a 30-yard Sammy Cooper blaster. Mervyn Abrahams and Glenn Poole threatened the Grays defence in both halves.
Blues fought back when Freddy Eastwood’s 51st minute shot appeared to cross the line, but was cleared by Lunan and was not given by the officials.
Then came the body-blow: Capleton’s cleared rebounded off Martin Carthy and into the net.
And, to end an unhappy afternoon for Grays, Ronnie Watson’s cross found Alex Fiddes who produced a staggering half-volley into the top left-hand corner of the Grays net in the 71st.
Perhaps Grays’ FA Cup tie against Margate on Saturday had distracted Blues’ league focus.
