Although born in Greenwich, London, Adam is a former Welsh Youth International who signed for Grays Athletic on 24th May 2007. Former manager Paul Fairclough also chose Adam to represent England in the National Game XI squad on a number of occasions.
Adam started his career with the Charlton Athletic Academy where he spent 3 years. He became a reserve team regular for the Addicks, helping them to win the 03/04 reserve league title with three games left to play.
Barnet signed Gross on a free transfer on the 29th July 2005, where he turned out a total of 52 times for The Bees.
The young left-back made his debut for Barnet early in the 04/05 season, replacing the injured Ismail Yakubu in only the second game of the season. However, failing to hold down a regular spot at Underhill, Adam Was released at the end of the 06/07 season and soon signed for The Blues.
On 4th January 2008, Gross was sent out on loan to Weymouth for a month. He returned at the start of February having played in four Blue Square Premier games for The Terras.
