Donny started his career at Leyton Orient, where he went on to make 151 appearances for The O's, spanning over six years. Barnard was a part of the team who gained promotion into League One.
The right-sided defender was released from Brisbane Park at the end of the 2006/07 season.
Following two unsuccesful trials at League Two new boys Brentford and Dagenham & Redbridge, Donny signed for The Blues on 24th August 2007.
Barnard left Grays Ath on 26th September 2007 after making just four appearances for The Blues.
