Ian Selley signed for Grays Ath on 22nd November 2007, on loan from Blue Square South side Lewes.
The midfielder was on the bench for Arsenal's 1993 FA Cup Final replay against Sheffield Wednesday in which David Linigan sealed the 2-1 win for The Gunners after extra time. The following season saw teenager, Selley play in Arsenal's Cup Winners' Cup side, seeing off Parma 1-0.
During his time at Arsenal, Selley was sidelined for the entire 1995/96 season due to a broken leg, in December 96, he joined Southend United making just 4 appearances. Eventually after 42 Premier League appearances for The Gunners he was sold to Fulham in 1997 for £500,000.
After just 3 appearances for Fulham, Selley suffered another broken leg and never got the chance to establish himself at Craven Cottage. His next move was to Wimbledon who found themselves facing financial difficulties which meant the Dons couldn't always afford to play him due to bonuses in his contract.
Wimbledon then allowed Selley to move to Southend on loan in February 2002 where he stayed for two-months, turning out 14 times for the Shrimpers. The following season he joined Southend on loan again from August to November 2002, where he made a following 11 appearances.
In May 2003, Selley was released and joined Conference outfit Woking. He played the anchoring role in midfield for the Cardinals and helped them push for a play-off position. During his time at Kingfield, Selley made 97 Conference appearances and scored 19 times over three seasons.
Following his release from Woking, Selley joined Conference South club, Lewes for the 2007/08 season. He was part of the side that helped knock-out Grays in the FA Cup that season.
Selley signed a short-term non-contract deal with Grays Ath on 22nd November 2007 until 1st January 2008. His contract was extended to the end of the season on 4th January 2008.
The experienced midfielder signed for Ryman Premier outfit Maidstone United on 7th March 2008. He made his debut in a 2-0 defeat against AFC Hornchurch.
