Born in Leicester in 1984, Tom joined Leicester City at the age of nine and was included in many first team squads after impressing in the Academy and reserve sides. He represented England at Under-15 and Under-18 levels and made his one and only appearance for the first team in a 2-1 win over Spurs in May 2002. In October 2004, Williamson was released and joined local rivals Canvey Island, before signing for Grays in July 2005. He made his debut for the club in the 4-1 away win at Southend United in the Essex Senior Cup, and was also a substitute in the 2-0 FA Trophy Final win over Woking in May 2006. Both Tom & Grays Athletic agreed to terminate the players contract, and he left the club on 2nd August 2007.
