Sheku surged his way through the Charlton Athletic ranks and represented the club at Under-17, Under-19 and reserve team levels. Kamara made his Charlton Reserves debut whilst just a schoolboy and he didn't disappoint, replacing South African international Mark Fish in a fixture against Spurs.
After leaving The Valley as an apprentice, Lambeth-born Kamara signed professionally for Watford in June 2006. After a successful trial spell, where his two appearances for the reserves and three outings for the Under-18s did enough for him to secure a permanent move to The Hornets.
On the 19th September 2006, Sheku made his first professional appearance for The Hornets at Vicarage Road on Tuesday 19th September 2006. It was a League Cup clash against Accrington Stanley, which had to be decided on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Kamara came on as a substitute in the 58th minute for Dominic Blizzard, and also picked up his first professional booking after being yellow carded in the 89th minute.
The towering defender joined Grays on a six-week loan deal in November 2006 and was released by Watford at the end of the season.
Kamara was back at Grays on trial this season, and played in a reserve fixture against Colchester United on 21st August 2007. He subsequently signed non-contract terms on 16th October 2007, and featured in the match away at Halifax that evening.
