The goalkeeper started his football career as a trainee at Tottenham Hotspur, where he was selected to represent England at youth and schoolboy levels. He failed to make an appearance for Spurs, however he was selected as back-up to Paul Robinson in a 3-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace in January 2005.
Braintree-born Eyre signed for Grays Ath initially on loan on 8th October 2004, making 4 appearances before returning to Spurs a month later.
Nicky signed permanently for Grays Ath the following season in July 2005. He made 22 appearances for The Blues, mainly used as back-up for cult-hero Ashley Bayes. Nicky was an unused substitute for the FA Trophy win over Woking and the Conference play-off semi-final defeat against Halifax.
In July 2006 Nicky left by mutual consent and later joined Paul Hart's Rushden & Diamonds. He started the 2006/07 season as Rushden's first choice 'keeper but was replaced when Graham Westley brought in Scott Tynan after former manager Hart was sacked.
After leaving Rushden in December 2006, Eyre had a trial with Conference South outfit Histon before joining Dagenham & Redbridge several weeks later. He was a part of the squad that helped the Daggers to win the Conference title, however the goalie only made a single appearance for Dagenham in a 4-2 defeat against Cambridge United.
Eyre more recently joined St. Albans City at the start of the 2007/08 season where he's made 36 appearances for the Saints.
He joined Grays Ath on loan in March 2008, following Danny Knowles' departure on loan to Crawley Town and the return of Paul Bastock to Clarence Park, following his release from Rushden & Diamonds.
