Exhausted Grays miss out


Grays are 13 places above Braintree in the Ryman Premier, but that counts for little in the Essex Senior Cup matches and Blues stumbled to defeat on Tuesday.

Mark Stimson’s men have had an exhausting FA Cup run and despite the return of Freddy Eastwood who missed Saturday’s crucial game through suspension, the playmaker looked below par.

Local hero Leroy Griffiths also only made it in time for the second half – his appearance bolstered Grays, but it was not enough.

Managerless Braintree left it late as Victor Asambong waited until injury time to score.
