Athletic crack four Lacklustre Bedford Town could not cope with Grays on Saturday and ended up being humiliated in front of their own fans.
Mark Stimson’s Blues – who have had mixed fortunes over the last few weeks – were back to the blitzing best at The Eyrie.
Martin Carthy, so often Blues’ hit-man opened the scoring after just over ten minutes when he nodded home a ball from Danny Hayzelden.
And with less than half an hour gone Rec favourite Leroy Griffiths proved why he remains one of the most talked about players in the Premier when he somehow squeezed a ball inside Bedford’s goalkeeper Ian Brown to put Blues two up.
Bedford must have been read the riot act at half time because they emerged with more fire in their bellies.
Blues defender was called upon to make a handy clearance, and although there was more pressure from the home side, the match was effectively decided in the 74th. A corner from Danny Hayzelden was met by the head of Daniel Lunan to put the visitors three in the lead.
Blues’ final goal came after a defensive mix-up by demoralised Eagles which allowed Freddy Eastwood a shot – which cannoned out. But not far enough for Bedford.
Griffiths was on the rebound like the natural goal scorer he is and The Eagles misery was complete.
