Hornchurch lock out denies Grays Grays took on Hornchurch on Saturday – but were unable to crack the Ryman Premier’s tightest defence.
Still, a point at the Rec will satisfy Blues manager Mark Stimson who knows that his young side have performed well.
The strike force for Grays was Freddy Eastwood – still the centre of transfer speculation – and former Urchin Lloyd Opara who was taking the place of Leroy Griffiths.
Griffiths is serving a three match suspension for a sending off.
Blues should have made sure of the game in the first half but Opara could not connect.
Prestigious talent Eastwood – who has been training with Charlton Athletic – made hay with the visitors’ defence on more than one occasion. But he could not get the shot in he needed.
Hornchurch came back into the game in the second half, thanks largely to the supportive win on the backs.
But the Grays defence held solid and their moneybags opponents were unable to score.
Another of Stimmo’s talented squad Ellie Remy came close late in the half but was thwarted by visiting keeper Daniel Gay.
