The left-sided winger was a part of Grays Ath's Under-18's before leaving at the end of the 2006/07 season.
Cruse had an unsuccessful trial at Stevenage at the start of the 2007/08 season and eventually joined East Thurrock United where he made a number of appearances for their reserves.
In December 2007, Tom re-signed for Grays Ath on a non-contract basis.
