Stimmo happy with stalemate Kettering is a long way to go for a point. But Blues manager Mark Stimson’s playing days and confidence in his team’s ability makes him a pragmatist.
Stimson hoped for more points from his on-form youngsters, but he knows the point keeps Grays in third place – although by the narrowest of margins over Bognor Regis and Carshalton.
The game at Rockingham Road on Saturday pitted Grays against a skilful and determined mid-table side.
Home keeper Mark Bunn kept Martin Carthy and other members of the Blues strike force at bay.
Freddy Eastwood was denied by a well-organised defence on several occasions.
Worrying for Mark Stimson was the 65th minute departure of Leroy Griffiths with what looked like a hamstring injury.
Griffiths has become a favourite with the Rec faithful since his arrival from West Ham in the Autumn.
And Stimson knows that – although he has not scored for a few weeks – Griffiths is a great supplier and made most of Eastwood and Martin Carthy’s recent net-denters.
