Grays get the Blues

Grays’ nickname of The Blues was fitting this weekend. Grays travelled to Scraley Road to take on Heybridge, but ended up losing the match 0-3 and also their gifted playmaker Leroy Griffiths who was given his marching orders.

Grays struggles to get into the game and looked uncomfortable with the dead-ball kicks of Swifts’ Danny Barber. They nearly went down early in the game when Carl Griffiths rattled the bar and Andrew Fotiadis got on the end of a Barber free kick but just failed to make it count.

Blues’ unhappiness deepened when Griffiths was dismissed after an off-the-ball incident with Bradley Thomas.

Blues boss Mark Stimson sent on Lloyd Opara and the injustice seemed to galvanise Grays, with shots coming from Freddy Eastwood and Martin Carthy.

In the second half Steve Robinson thought he had been fouled but Fotiadis went on to put Swifts ahead. Then Carl Griffiths added two more, despite Opara coming close for Grays.
